Dustin is working on leveling an area for a sidewalk. Jim was bring in some dirt when the tractor got a flat tire. Dustin is working for neighbor today. William has been helping Grandpa take care of a fallen tree. One day they removed the stump and hauled the trunk away and the next they used the chipper to get rid of the branches. Today William is picking up all the branches and wood and putting them in the burn pile. Yesterday the boys and I picked strawberries and I made four batches of Frezzer jam. I spent yesterday morning in the garden weeding. The weather has been nice. The temperature in the high 70's.
Jim and I went to our old ward in Orem on Sunday morning. We were able to see a lot of friends and visit with them. After church we spent some time with our "Walking Party" friends. We had a great visit and can't wait until October when we go on a Hawaiian cruise with them. We were invited for dinner at Craig's family's home in South Jordan. We enjoyed visiting with Laura and Craig and his family. We returned to my parents home for our last night. In the morning we left at 6:00AM and met Robert, Tiffany and Lyle at Lyle's work at 7:00. We left my parents car there with Lyle and Robert took us to the airport. Our flight was not scheduled to leave until 9:00 so when we got through security easily we found we could take an earlier flight at 7:40. So we arrived in Denver three hours before our next flight. Trissa got a new job in customer service and started her training today, so she was not at the airport to talk to. We had a good flight home. We arrive in Spokane at 2:00. We stopped by costco on the way home to get some food and gas. We also stopped and got an expansion for our Carcassonne game. We arrived home just before Dustin returned home from football practice. It rained off and on all the way home. After dinner we had FHE and played a game of Carcassonne.
Saturday we woke up to rain. We had planned to go up the canyon to a cabin and spend more time with Jim Fugel but the bad weather changed our plans. The rain stopped and it started to clear up. Laura and Craig went on their scheduled 20 mile ride up the canyon at 10:30 AM. Trissa,Jim and I went to Seagul book, Arbys for lunch and then on to SLC to Laura's apartment. We arrived at 1:30 and walked to Hogle Zoo. We all had a great time walking around the zoo. By the end Laura was is pain and very tired because she had ridden her bike 20 miles and taken 15 minutes off her time and then spent several hours at the zoo. We all enjoyed the bird show which we watched at the beginning of our visit to the zoo. The famous attraction was a white alligator. After returning to Laura's apartment we left Trissa there and Jim and I headed to Sandy to visit with Jim Fugel again. He is staying with his friend in Sandy and because of the weather he decided to have us come there for dinner. He wanted more time to talk. They both enjoyed yesterday but needed more one on one time together. We had a wonderful meal and then enjoyed telling stories, each remembering different ones. I heard some new stories and also some of the same stories only from a different perspective. They did not want to say good bye but it was getting late. Trissa spent the night with Laura and they will take her to the airport tomorrow morning.
Jim's companion from his mission called and said he would be in Salt Lake City this weekend. He and Jim had planned to get together sometime during his vacation to the States. This was the weekend he had time to visit with us. Nothing would keep Jim from seeing his favorite companion, even a terrible head cold. So Jim and I flew to Denver Friday morning and then on to SLC. Trissa came with us to SLC. We arrived at 4:00pm. My sister came and picked us up at the airport in my parents car. She drove to her husband's work and we left her there. We talked to Laura on her cell phone and met her in a parking lot. Trissa got in their car and spent the evening with Laura and Craig. Jim and I headed for Willard,Utah. The traffic was bad of course and we didn't get there until after 6 o'clock. Cliff(one of Jim's mission companions) had prepared a dutch oven dinner for us along with their mission president and his wife and two other companions. They were all at his home when we arrived. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner and visited until late into the night. Cliff had planned this reunion for Jim Fugel(Jim's favorite companion who is visiting from Australia) and was gracious enough to invite us when he found out we were coming to Utah. It was late but Trissa still wanted us to come pick her up so we did and then continued to drive south to my parents' home.( They are out of town on vacation so we have to place to ourselves)We didn't get there until after 1 AM. We are exhausted but glad we came.
I started feeling sick on Friday. Saturday was a little worse but I still went to a service project and help paint a fence. Sunday got worse but I had to teach the lesson to all the young women. Monday I started out with my usual walk at 6:30 and it was really cold and windy. By afternoon I knew I had better slow down and take it easy. Tuesday I slept til 10:00 and didn't get much done. Wednesday I had to get mutual planned and ready. My leader incharge for this week is too busy and will not be there. I started feeling a little better and off to mutual I went. Thanks to Shelly everything worked out great. She brought all the materials to make a memory book for each of the three girls graduating. Thursday I knew I was on the mend, still coughing and my nose still stuffy but the fever was gone and I had more energy. Jim started feeling sick on Saturday after working all morning on the house. He had to call in sick Wednesday and Thursday he was so miserable. Thursday night he started to feel better.
